Identities
Identity is a core issue at KBtL; we cannot center and hold space for marginalized perspectives without ensuring that the people who work with us are also diverse. KBtL strives to balance transparency and privacy as much as possible by asking staff and presenters to identify their marginalized identities right in their profile whenever possible. You can find identities listed in both presenter profiles and staff profiles. But for many reasons, some people may have concerns around sharing some of their identities publicly and we support their right to privacy and safety too! In addition, our amazing volunteers are not listed by name on our website, which means we can’t list their identities publicly with their profile. So, in addition to identities listed in profiles, the following is a cumulative list of all identities of all staff, presenters, and volunteers for the current event. These identities are listed anonymously in bulk to provide a snapshot of where we are coming from as a conference.
Identities are listed alphabetically and are listed only once no matter how many people identified with them. The identities listed are what volunteers, staff, and presenters from this event self-identified as. We never place an identity on someone else without their consent.
