Whitewashing is typically the practice of distorting, omitting or downplaying aspects of race, racism, and ethnicity to present a more “favorable” outcome or engagement. This happens all over culture, media, day-to-day life and Kink is no exception. Unfortunately, putting whiteness first, limits who can safely participate in BDSM and in the Kink Community. With this in mind, let’s have a frank and honest conversation about how whitewashing impacts kink spaces and what we can do on the individual and community levels to better this situation. This session is open to all attendees, though we will be prioritizing non-white perspectives.
