“Sticks and stones may break our bones, but my skin don’t bruise the same as yours.” Have you ever taken an impact class and the instructor talks about the skin upon impact will start to turn pink, red, and maybe even purple and blue? If you are melanated, have you ever played with someone who was not and they kept hitting you over and over, harder and harder because they wanted your skin to turn pink and red? It is important that we have discussions on playing with people with different skin types. We will also talk about the expectations of the D-Type and the S-Type from impact play.
