CEC
What is “CEC”?
CEC stands for Consent and Emotional Care. A core part of Kink Between the Lines, the CEC Team exists to safeguard and support the emotional safety and consent of the KBtL Community.
What does CEC do?
- Support Consent Practices by helping to make sure that everyone understands and respects consent, as well as following KBtL’s Consent Policy.
- Respond to Incidents as a key member of the Incident Response Team (IRT). If someone experiences a violation of consent the CEC team can also listen, support, and help manage the situation.
- Provide Emotional Support in a safe, calm, and nonjudgmental way. Anyone who feels overwhelmed, anxious, upset, or triggered can talk to a CEC Team member at any time during KBtL.
- Mediate Conflicts with care, concern, and authenticity. Sometimes, CEC helps mediate minor conflicts between participants before they escalate into bigger problems.
- Offer Resources that may aid in emotional regulation, conflict resolution, unpacking your privilege, grounding, and more. The CEC also can often connect people with further help in their region if needed.
- Educate and Remind the community about consent culture(s), mutual communication and understanding, and emotional safety.
The CEC Team at KBtL strives to handle sensitive issues respectfully and promote a positive, caring, community vibe. To learn more about the people who serve on our CEC team, please view their bios and demographic info on our Staff page.
Important Note
The KBtL CEC team comes from different cultures and educational backgrounds and will provide assistance in the ways they have training and experience, but their care is NOT a substitute for professional care (psychological or physical) nor is it a replacement for legal, social, or emergency intervention. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please utilize the emergency services in your local/national area first.
