Join Our Volunteer Team!
Want to be part of the magic that brings Kink Between the Lines to life? We're looking for kind, curious, and collaborative folks to join our volunteer crew and help create an unforgettable experience for everyone attending. Whether you're a seasoned event helper or totally new, there’s a place for you on the KBtL team.
We’re currently inviting volunteers for the following roles
This role assists the presenter during the class/session by monitoring the chat feature and assists with time reminders. Class Assistants also introduce the educator following a set script. Additionally, Class Assistants are responsible for the attendee count, and listing the information in a pre-made spreadsheet during the session and before the class/session, this person helps get people excited for the class/session by posting in Discord channels, and lets folks know that the class/session channel is open. After the class/session, the Class Assistant helps guide the participants back to Discord for any further discussion.
This role is to help our attendees with questions in Gather during events. Gather Greeters will be trained on Gather before the conference to better assist attendees with questions on where socials/events in Gather are held and how to navigate the space. Greeters are expected to be logged into Gather 5-10 minutes before your scheduled time, and are not required to be on-camera.
This role is to help the conference run smoothly by stepping in where needed. Standby Volunteers may be asked to fill in as a Gather Greeter and/or Class Assistant during their shift. When not covering another role, they are expected to keep conversations flowing in general chat and other Discord channels, come up with conversation starters, and convert images into alt text to support accessibility. Volunteers should stay online and responsive during their shift, ready to assist wherever needed.
Volunteer Benefits
We believe that volunteering should be meaningful and rewarding. Here’s what you get when you contribute your time and energy to making KBtL incredible:
- Volunteer for at least 3 sessions and you’ll receive full access to the event.
- Volunteer for 5 or more sessions and you’ll get event access plus extended access to all content for 1 week.
Each role also comes with its own unique perks:
- Class Assistants join each class/session 10 minutes early to check in with the educator giving you a unique chance to connect one-on-one, support their needs, and share a quick moment before things begin. It’s a great way to build rapport and get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the session/class and how educators do their work.
- Gather Greeters get to meet and mingle with a wide range of attendees in a relaxed social setting which is perfect for expanding your network and making new friends
- Standby Volunteer get the chance to sharpen their articulation and social skills, learn how to read a room, and adapt quickly to changing needs—making it a great role for anyone looking to grow as a thoughtful, confident communicator.
